How to join / sew granny squares together I

This is a good solution for joining grannies with an almost seamless effect, specially for dresses and sweaters. Lay the motifs out in the correct order with the right sides up. Working in horizontal rows, stitch the motifs together, beginning with the top row of motifs. Begin stitching at the righthand edge of the first two motifs, sewing into the back loop of corresponding stitches. Continue stitching the first two motifs together, making sure you join only the back loops of each edge together, until you reach the lefthand corner. Align the next two motifs, carry the yarn firmly across and join them together in the same way. For extra strength, you can work two stitches into the corner loops before and after carrying the yarn across. Continue joining motifs along row, then secure the yarn ends carefully at the beginning and end of the stitching. Repeat until all the horizontal edges of the motifs are joined. Turn the crochet so the unstitched edges of the motifs are now horizontal.

It's interesting to see how cyclical fashion is and how today we're back to Vintage fashion, to crochet and knitting on the catwalks, to the "granny squares" of our grandmothers, which were often used to make bedspreads with super colorful scrap yarn. My 84-year-old neighbor was showing me the other day a bag she made in flowered grannies, which she didn't wear because she thought it was out of fashion. I showed her how, after all, she is very current. She has already worn it again, proudly. ;-) This neighbor offered me a cloth bag that was recycled: she crocheted a square and sewed it on the cloth, over the advertising.
