Shell headband - Crochet

 

Size: finished measurements 3 x 28"

Materials: . Cool Crochet from Bernat (Art. 161074); 70% cotton, 30% nylon; 1¾ oz. (50 g); 3:Light, 200 yds. (182 m); DK weight: 1 ball #74315 Amethyst;

. Crochet hook Size F/5 (3.75 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE;

. Blunt-end yarn needle.

Gauge: 5 shells and 10 rows = 4" (10 cm) in pat. TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.


Special stitch 

Shell: 2 dc, ch 1, and 2 dc in next st.


Ch 60.

Row 1 (RS): Shell in 5th ch from hook, *sk next 3 ch, shell in next ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, sk next 2 ch, dc in last ch; turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, * shell in ch-1 sp of next shell; rep from * across, end with dc in top of turning ch; turn.

Rep last row 5 more times. Do not fasten off; cont for edging.


Edging

Work 8 sc down short end of Headband to gather side, work one shell at base of each shell along foundation row, then work 8 sc up opposite short side; turn.


Tie (make 2)

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each of next 8 sc; turn.

Rep last row until Tie measures 8". Fasten off.

Join yarn with sl st to opposite side and work another Tie. With blunt-end yarn needle, weave in ends.
