SQUARE: Make 187, using black for Rnd 7 only. Starting at center, ch 10; join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc). 15 hdc into ring; join with sl st to 2nd ch of ch 2.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same st holding last lp of each st on hook, pull yarn through all lps on hook; *ch 3, sk 1 st, holding last lp of each st on hook, 3 dc, draw yarn through all lps on hook (dc group worked). Repeat from * around- 8 ch-3 sp and 8 groups; sl st in 3rd ch of ch-3; sl st to ch-sp.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 4 dc in ch-3 sp, * ch 3, 5 dc in next ch-sp. Repeat from * around; end ch 3; join. Break off.
Rnd 4: With new color, sl st in any ch-3 sp. In same sp, work ch 3, 2 dc. * ch 2, in next lp, 4 dc, ch 3, 4 dc (corner worked), ch 2, 3 dc in next sp. Repeat from * twice; work corner in next sp, ch 2; join.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each of next 2 dc, * 3 dc in ch-sp, ch 1, in corner sp work 4 dc, ch 3, 4 dc (corner worked), ch 1, 3 dc in ch-sp, dc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around; join. Break off.

Rnd 7: With black, sl st in any corner sp and work first corner; * ch 1, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, 1 dc in each of next 15 dc, 3 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, work corner in corner sp. Repeat from * around; join. Break off.
FINISHING: Holding right sides of 2 squares together, whipstitch to join along 1 edge. Continue joining in this manner forming 10 strips of 17 squares each. Whipstitch strips together.
